The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for providing support to the General Counsel - USA on matters that affect business, including corporate risk. Provides legal advice and guidance to all levels of management and acts as a trusted business partner. Works closely with other departments to interpret, defend, and enforce handbook, agreements, etc. The information contained in this job description is intended to describe the essential job functions required of those assigned to this job. Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Provides support to the General Counsel - USA on matters
affecting business, including corporate risks - Drafts, reviews, and revises legal and other documents
affecting the Company's day-to-day operations, including, design, construction and EPC agreements, labor agreements, subcontract agreements, vendor agreements, jobsite work rules, and EHS processes and procedures - Provides legal advice and guidance to business line and
functional management on matters affecting business; acts as trusted business partner to management - Oversees the corporate books including by-laws, shareholder
and buy/sell agreements, and shareholder records - Manages the resolution of claims by clients, subcontractors
and other third parties working with insurers and when appropriate, outside counsel - Provides guidance on corporate governance, ethics, Code of
Conduct, policy guidelines, leases, insurance, organizational structure, and collection matters - Counsels Senior Management regarding corporate risks, and
supports the company's risk management program - Works closely with Human Resources, Compliance and other
departments to interpret, defend, and enforce handbooks, agreements, etc. - Reviews corporate policies and procedures, makes
recommendations to management team - Manages and handles domestic employment, litigation and
claim matters - Investigates, responds to and advises on NLRB, OSHA, EEOC,
ERA Section 211, DOL, WARN, FLSA and other state, federal and other government administrative actions - Manages ERISA issues concerning multi-employer defined
benefit plans and welfare benefit plans - May be involved in environmental and intellectual property
matters and other types of commercial and non-commercial legal issues - Assists with the Company's mergers and acquisitions
- Manages assigned projects to completion
- Other duties as assigned.
Show your expertise
- 7+ years of experience
- Education: Juris Doctor degree
- Must be licensed and in good standing in STATE
- Engineering or Construction Management preferred
- Prior experience working in a law firm and in house
preferred - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
