Overview

Become a team member of Chateau Elan Winery and Resort as we grow to one of the most prestigious and prominent wineries on the east coast. The Tasting Room Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Tasting Room Manager with overseeing the daily operations of the Winery Tasting Room. The ultimate goal of this position is to lead the Team to provide our guests with an exceptional Winery Experience.



Responsibilities

    Lead day to day tasting room operations and ensure guest satisfaction and enjoyment, cleanliness of tasting room, and organization of back of house areas.
  • Supervise Tasting Room wine stewards.
  • Prepare the Tasting Room for opening/closing each business day.
  • Lead winery tours, private tastings, wine seminars, and public tastings as needed.
  • Oversee the continued professional growth of the Tasting Room Associates.
  • Assist with monthly inventory.
  • Assists with inter-departmental communications as it relates to winery.
  • Ensures proper coverage for private events.
  • Assists with the tasting room schedule up to LLG Standards. Making sure the GSI scored are also met.
  • Assists with on-boarding of new hire staff members.
  • Assisting with all inquiries, i.e. voice-mail, email responses, etc.
  • Working with Director of Marketing in event planning as it relates to the winery.
  • Assist in fulfilling custom label orders and working with Adobe Illustrator.
  • Coordinating with Group Sales/Event Planning on BEO's and room bookings.
  • Assists communications with Barrel Club members.
  • Assists with maintaining covers inputs and forecasts.
  • Assists with operating supplies and reorders.
  • Assists with and helps facilitate wine requisitions.
  • Oversees Fareharbor functions and updates.
  • Helps plan and facilitate annual Vineyard Fest.
  • Supervise service of guests, being watchful of signals from guests in need of service.
  • Assist manager to establish and monitor side-work duty completion.
  • Maintain bank to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
  • Read daily communication sheets from previous shift and prepare one for the following shift. Check floor-plan for appropriate coverage.Check Winery And Lawn areas for cleanliness and set up. Check service stands and aisle areas. Check tables for cleanliness and proper set up.
  • Communicate daily with restaurant manager with regard to special events, house counts, etc.
  • Assist restaurant manager in conducting menu classes and taste panels.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Assisting the Manager in Payroll by assigning the event commission to the proper staff.
  • Add/update Wine prices or food items to the new Micros system.
  • Ensure the correct requisition of wine to always have wine stocked on the shelves.
  • Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Requires 1-2 years of supervisory experience and customer service experience.
  • Candidates must possess wine knowledge and introductory level Sommelier preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional communication and organizational skills. The ability to speak comfortably and audibly in front of groups of people. Knowledge of wine and wine industry. Minimum of 18 years old and able to work a flexible schedule.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • Ability to use point of sale.
  • Proficient with computer systems
  • Ability to lift/carry weight up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to push/and pull carts of products weighing up to 150 pound with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
