Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Athletic Student Success Coach(es) will serve as the liaison between student-athletes and Student Counseling Services by providing triage, front-end, and advising support related to mental health wellness and challenges. The Athletic Student Success Coaches will work to develop and facilitate outreach programs that focus specifically on behavioral and mental health wellness, create and advise the student-athlete peer wellness project (Project TEAM), maintain confidential information related to referrals to counseling and other campus & community services, and follow-up services. The Athletic Student Success Coach will provide non-clinical consultation to coaches and staff members in the department as needed. Oversee the implementation and coordination of the Viking Victory: Ready Set Go! "Playing Physically, Winning Mentally" behavioral grant. Coordinate a communications & marketing plan for the Viking Victory program.
The Athletic Student Success Coaches will provide resources to student-athletes for wrap-around services to include, but not limited to: ECSU Viking Cares Food Pantry, CARE Team, Military & Veterans Affairs, Academic Advising, Tutorial Services, TRIO Programs, and other campus and community resources as needed.

Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Knowledge and familiarity with NCAA Division II Athletics culture is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of and experience working in higher education.
Knowledge of and experience working with student athletes in a college/university setting.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, education, or related field.
