Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey seeks a Student Research Assistant in Medicine - Infectious Disease for Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School.

The Student Assistant (Research) is responsible for data collection, quality assurance of collected data (clinical, laboratory, demographic), routine data management tasks for data transmitted from the international sites, manuscript development, proposal assistance and other relevant scientific activities.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

  • Works with our staff and international sites in data capture, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities during protocol conduct.
  • Works with study coordinators and data managers to develop appropriate and detailed standard operating procedures, training manuals and other materials for study conduct and data collection in the clinic, field and laboratory.
  • Identifies missing, incorrect, and illogical responses for queries to field sites for correction.
  • Maintains databases as per operating procedures and under guidance of database programmer and study coordinator(s).

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Satisfactory completion of High School/Undergraduate degree and currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate studies at Rutgers University.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications including word processing and excel, online searching, and email, and fluency with learning new software applications highly desirable.
  • Candidate should demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communications skills are required.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to set priorities and work under pressure to meet time deadlines.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter who is detail oriented, analytical, has strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work in a collaborative environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of biostatistics and epidemiology.
  • Some basic understanding of data management in clinical research.
  • Experience working in other software platforms relevant to clinical research (REDCap, SAS, R, Microsoft Office and internet applications).
