You will be a faculty member in the Division of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and serve as an Associate Member of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Head and Neck Oncology Program. The Head and Neck Oncology Program provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck. As a specialist with expertise in head and neck surgery, both benign and malignant disease, you will be responsible for ensuring high quality surgical services for patients undergoing evaluation for the prevention or treatment of diseases of the head and neck. In addition, you will be a member of and expected to actively participate in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery CME and clinical program associated with the multidisciplinary Head and Neck Oncology Tumor Board and support the clinical research and educational missions of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be an active participant in the multidisciplinary Head and Neck Surgery Tumor Board.
  2. Ensure that days, evenings, and weekends are adequately covered for the Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery on-call service at RWJBarnabas Monmouth Medical Center (MMC).
  3. Foster a responsive and quality RWJMS/RWJUH Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery inpatient consult service for RWJBarnabas Health MMC.
  4. Practice evidence-based medicine while engaging in ongoing quality improvement, outcomes research and clinical research to improve patient care.
  5. Management and direct supervision of Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows to establish goals, metrics for success, and accountability in areas of research, education, patient care, service and scholarship.
  6. Work effectively with the Chairman and the Chairman's administrative staff to on-board and recruit quality faculty and staff providing support for the department and all divisions.
  7. Work collaboratively with the Department Chairman and the Chairman's Office administrative staff to ensure goals for faculty member's productivity in the division are congruent with those of the Chairman's directives, such as increasing patient access to care, reducing missing charges and unsigned charts, and reducing bumping in the ambulatory practice.
  8. Work effectively with the Chairman and the Chairman's administrative staff supporting the Head and Neck Surgical Oncology service to enhance increased faculty productivity, quality care, faculty retention, and recruitment of qualified faculty that will enhance the department's and the division's reputation of our principal affiliate hospital RWJUH, MMC and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
  9. Help develop the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency program.
  10. Enhance the division's national reputation in research and scholarship, as measured by its portfolio of high impact publications and research funding.
  11. All other duties as assigned by the Chairman of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
  12. Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  13. In addition to clinical service on the main MMC campus, it is essential to help develop complex head and neck cancer surgical cases brought to RWJUH and help develop satellite practice sites as prioritized by the Chairman of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
  14. Ensure comprehensive and accurate coding and billing of each patient encounter submitted the day of the encounter.
  15. Demonstrate proficiency in use and operation of all equipment pertinent to position.
  16. Participate in the education of patients, family members, and caregivers.
  17. Physician may educate, supervise, and train residents. Such supervision and training shall be provided by Physician in accordance with the requirements imposed by State and Federal regulatory agencies, the pertinent medical specialty boards, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and their RWJBH primary hospital and its Medical Staff, including any physical presence requirements.
