JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A Research Technologist - Medical Sciences position is available for a highly motivated candidate in the Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology, in Hershey, PA, to study translational research training in melanoma and novel immunotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of cancer. The successful candidate will independently conduct experiments that evaluate the immune response in experimental models of cancer and with human lymphocytes under guidance from the PI, perform moderately complex protocols through a series of detailed steps, summarize and evaluate data and prepare reports. The individual will be responsible for proper operation and maintenance of equipment, ordering supplies, breeding mice, general upkeep of the laboratory and some supervision of trainees. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational and record keeping habits are essential. The ability to learn new techniques and respond positively to feedback from supervisors is expected. The ability to work in a team setting is essential. It is desirable for applicants to have knowledge and experience in cell culture, molecular biology, animal handling, and flow cytometry and to have basic computer skills. A working knowledge of immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics or pharmacology is preferred. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or molecular biology plus seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding. The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:
