Daikin Applied is seeking an Engineering Manager - Compressors. This is working manager role. In this role you will perform engineering work as a technical expert and direct the activities of a team within the Compressors Engineering Department to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems by performing the following duties personally and/or through subordinates. Location: Staunton, VA - Onsite

What you will do:



  • Direct team activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Analyze technology trends and market demand to plan projects
  • Manage the timely revision of drawings and bills of material, as required
  • Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products
  • Forecast operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests
  • Advise management of and assist in overseeing new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
  • Provide clarity and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develop recommendations accordingly
  • Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner
  • Lead and direct the work of the employees on the team. Has authority for personnel decisions; and have impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's or 4-year Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years of related experience
  • Technical knowledge of refrigerant compressor design and operation
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Technical knowledge of Centrifugal Chiller design and operation
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and PLM systems
