Overview

TRC Environmental Corp. seeks to fill a mid-level (5-10 year) Engineer/Scientist position within our Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Ohio or Indianapolis offices. The individual selected for this position will be assisting in the continued growth of TRC's Environmental & Infrastructure service offerings through project execution, management, and business development responsibilities and the further advancement/recognition of TRC in the marketplace. This position is designed to strengthen the office with growth and experience.

The successful candidate would work across the Environmental & Infrastructure Sector (EI) in collaboration with TRC's Practice Leaders and project managers. A successful candidate will have responsibility managing projects, lending technical experience to existing projects and expanding the office client base through business development activities.

The position and will be supported by technical, project management, and client development personnel across the EI Sector. Collectively, TRC's regional capabilities include over 100 personnel located in six offices in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.


Responsibilities

The Engineer/Scientist will:

  • Be responsible for prospecting for new clients and securing compliance, site assessment, remediation, with an emphasis on due diligence projects.
  • Will serve as Project Manager and Client Manager for new and existing customers, including project scoping, proposal preparation, budgeting, project accounting, report preparation, and quality assurance.
  • Support environmental investigation, compliance and remediation projects in the field and office.
  • Will be expected to achieve 65% utilization on billable projects within six months of hire and maintaining that level thereafter.
  • Will be responsible for cross-selling and increasing business from accounts under management.
  • Will work with other TRC project managers and business development professionals, developing strategies for new and existing customers.
  • Possess strong verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills; demonstrated ability leading and managing complex proposals and projects; as well as being goal oriented, quality focused, and have demonstrated success working in a team environment.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Professional or technical degree in engineering, geology, environmental science or related field. Advanced degree and state certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Prefer 5-10 years in managing environmental site assessment, remediation, environmental compliance or other service areas.
  • Proven track record with successful marketing, business development, business management and oversight of regional businesses.
  • Strong business acumen and attributes, coupled with a commitment to TRC Values: Safety, Quality, Integrity, Creativity, Accountability, Teamwork and Passion.
  • Location is Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Ohio or Indianapolis, IN. Some travel with overnight stays around Ohio and surrounding states.
  • Not subject to non-compete agreement with existing employer. Prefer candidate with some loyal existing clients/accounts that may follow to new employer.
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER certification and an up-to-date 8-hr annual refresher course.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
