The Pittsburghoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aElectrical Engineerto join our team.

Working with us, you will:



  • Perform analysis, design and documentation of building electrical systems including low and medium voltage power distribution, site and campus destruction, standby and backup power systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and solar to help achieve decarbonization goals.
  • Independently provide the full range of electrical engineering services on complex innovative electrical systems.
  • Revise, review, and coordinate construction documents.
  • Mentor and train junior level staff.
  • Develop solutions to challenging electrical power distribution and lighting systems with integrated architecture and engineering (A/E) project design teams.
  • Contribute to SmithGroup sustainable design initiatives by using a variety of software to perform electrical loads, short circuit analysis, generator loads and lighting calculations.
  • As a fully integrated A/E firm our lead engineers have a full seat at the table making building decisions with our architects and planners. You will drive design, not follow it.



An ideal candidate has:



  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working as an electrical engineer designing electrical power distribution and lighting systems for new and renovated laboratories, data centers, government, higher ed, and other critical building types.
  • PE License with LEED AP and Engineering-in-Training certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office required. SKM systems power analysis and Bluebeam preferred.

While we may ultimately pay more or less than a posted salary range, at the time of posting the anticipated salary range for this position is $71,000 to $106,000 annually and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus each year.
