General Responsibilities:
In this role, you'll lead a skilled team tackling complex, cutting-edge projects at Terracon's Quad Cities office. With over 60 years of combined environmental experience, our team serves clients across sectors like finance, power generation, manufacturing, transportation, and education. You'll oversee projects, drive business growth locally and regionally (Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin), and mentor top talent. Success in this role requires strong project management, client development, and environmental consulting expertise, while helping shape the future of the department and region.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Provide leadership and management of Environmental staff with a goal of growing the business and department.
  • Assume senior project/client management and oversight duties for portfolio of existing workload.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage APRs on projects at their onset.
  • Responsible for the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for a variety of projects.
  • With support from the local office leadership team as well as the Regional Environmental Service Manager and other Environmental Group Managers, perform business and client development activities.
  • With support from the Regional Environmental Service Manager, develop and manage employee staffing plans, recruitment, selection, and onboarding.
  • With support from the Regional Environmental Service Manager prepare and execute annual business plan for the department.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology; Master's degree or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of practice experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years of related experience.
      • Experience in Illinois and Iowa is preferred.
  • Experience with conventional environmental services as well as executing and managing projects and proposals.
  • Proven client/business development experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG) or similar professional registration/certification relevant to the type of services and projects being managed.
