DLZ Corporation currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager - Civil /Environmental Engineer - Water / Wastewater. This position is available in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, or Munster, IN. #

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform complex engineering, construction, and design assignments in the areas of drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater, applying specialized technical expertise and exercising professional judgment.
  • Lead design projects, overseeing assigned personnel, managing cost and time schedules, and ensuring high-quality results.
  • Design structures, systems, and equipment that involve intricate concepts and the resolution of complex engineering problems.
  • Prepare reports, conduct studies on new engineering methods, codes, processes, and materials, and evaluate alternative systems and equipment.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and coordinate field activities, including construction monitoring.
  • Perform construction phase activities, including bid evaluations and review of Contractor's shop drawing submittals.
  • Assist in business and project fee development for municipal drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater projects.
  • Resolve problems and ensure the successful project turnover to the client throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain effective relationships with team members, departments, and divisions involved in the project.
  • Control and review project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, and reports, ensuring quality control.
  • Monitor project fees and budgets, reporting any issues to appropriate managers.
  • Prepare progress and special reports for staff and clients.
  • Obtain client acceptance of work, coordinate completion of final project paperwork, and prepare final reports.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance.
  • Plan and develop project scope, procedures, budgets, and overall project strategy.
  • Engage in marketing and client development activities.
  • Adhere to the company's Health and Safety Plan, performing all work in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Act as a positive representative of the company, upholding its core values.
  • Participate actively in civic and professional activities, societies, and organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • 10 or more years of experience working on the design of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration in the state of Indiana or the ability to obtain it within four months if licensed in another state.
  • Experience with planning and designing drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater distribution, collection, storage, and treatment infrastructure.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Desired experience in construction document preparation and modeling.
  • Ability to visit and safely navigate construction and project sites, adhering to applicable safety codes and requirements.
