Overview

Workforce Development - Focus Factory Pipefitting Instructor

Location: Quonset Point

Travel Expectation: EWA and/or Business Travel approximately 75%+

Focus Factory Training (D973) is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Pipefitting Instructor to support the strategic sourcing initiatives of the Focus Factories. This position will ultimately report to the Strategic Sourcing Training Manager and will report to the applicable on-site training Chief.

The Instructor will be part of a team, responsible for the training of supplier students in various courses related to various Pipefitting tasks, as well as additional related requirements. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety, Quality and Procedural Compliance, be a self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also be driven by a desire to develop themselves and others, and possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor. The ideal candidate comes with the motivation to drive EB's commitment to first time quality as a guiding principle enabling the supplier to build and deliver work in support of EB's mission.

Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:

    Instructing multiple trades related courses including workmanship standards, procedures & Safety Briefs
  • Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests
  • Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
  • Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
  • Supporting various course content reviews and related activities
  • Conducting assessments as scheduled
  • Manage class rosters and training OQE submittal paperwork
  • Meeting with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as needed
  • Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
  • Communicate with other Training team members to advance work and communicate issues
  • Supporting special training projects as required
  • Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned

Work Schedule - The selected candidate will be expected to work the following work schedule:

Work Hours:

  • Generally, 1st shift hours - Supplier site hours vary, flexibility is necessary
  • Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)
  • Ability to participate in Business travel (up to 75%)


Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of pipefitting work experience at Electric Boat
  • Ability to participate on business travel up to 75%
  • Experience with MS Office and EB Business systems i.e AWPSS & SRT

Preferred

  • Advanced educational course work including certifications, associates or other advanced education degree
  • Instructing/teaching experience
  • Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS ...ETC)
  • Proficiency with virtual technologies

  • Must Be able to complete and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required
