We are currently accepting applications for the Part Time position of:

Per-Diem Crossing Guard Assistants

Lexington Police Department

Hourly Rate: $30.13

The REQUIRED Town of Lexington application form and cover letter must be received in the

Town's Human Resource Department. This position is open until filled.

The Lexington Police Department is looking for qualified individuals to work as Per-Diem Crossing Guard
Assistants. On an intermittent and temporary basis, the Town of Lexington will staff vacant crossing
locations with employees who are not members of the bargaining unit. After proper training, Per-Diem
Crossing Guards may be required to assist with vehicles exiting or entering the school property. It is the
intent that these Crossing Assistants will work per-diem when an assigned crossing location is vacant
due to resignation, illness, leave or other circumstance and no other Crossing Guard or Floater is
available to staff it.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Punctual when reporting to an assigned school crossing.
2. To be attentive and to cross children in a safe manner.
3. To report any unsafe condition that could endanger the safety of the school children.
4. To comply with the regulations required by the Department.
5. No Crossing Guard Assistant shall enforce criminal or motor vehicle laws.

Must be able to stand outdoors for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions (rain,
sleet, snow, heat).

Proper safety equipment (stop sign, safety vest and white gloves) will be supplied.

Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions either unaided or with
the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case by case basis.

substitute for completing the required application form.

CORI screening is required.

The Town reserves the right to modify the application deadline, and/or accept applications after
the deadline, to best serve the interest of the community.

After the deadline all applications will be reviewed and the most highly qualified candidates will be
invited to one or more interviews. All applicants will be notified of their standing in the process as soon
as a decision has been made regarding their individual application.
