About the role:

Provide technical expertise in architect designing, managing and administering Databases in Cloud (AWS & Azure), on-prem and PowerBI. Develop the technical strategy and build Gartner's database solutions using the next generation of data storage capabilities to keep up with business needs and will be part of automation efforts to enhance provisioning and operations of all types of datastores.

What you will do:

  • Ensure 24x7 availability with on-call support for critical database systems hosted on premise and on multiple clouds.
  • Leading the architecture, design, development & testing processes and support of databases and other services.
  • Maintain and optimize Power BI Infrastructure: Ensure smooth operation, troubleshoot issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Driving and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Delivering high-quality, innovative and scalable technical solutions that make a tangible impact.
  • Design, Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Driving automation by developing intuitive or simpler process designs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and interacting with global stakeholders.
  • Constant process improvement thinking to reduce delivery time and develop innovative solutions.

What you will need:

  • 10+ years' experience in Database Operations with a bachelor's degree (Computer Science/ Informational Technology preferred).
  • Highly experienced with database platforms (i.e.MS SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Postgres, AWS Aurora, Cosmos) to support high volume OLTP systems.
  • Authoritative knowledge and Hands-on on PowerBI platforms (i.e. PBI Admin, PowerApps, Gateways) to support the Reporting systems.
  • Robust knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Analysis Service and Microsoft Fabric
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse systems and MPP database architecture desired
  • Experience in architecture design and managing Databases in cloud and on-prem.
  • Hands on experience with SQL and DB performance tuning and rapid problem troubleshooting/resolution
  • Understanding and ability to work with IaC, CI/CD Pipelines, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Aws Lambda, Azure Resource Manager etc.
  • Skilled in scripting languages such as PowerShell, python.
  • Good judgment, prompt decision-making ability, responsibility and accountability.
  • Commitment to teamwork as a contributor.
  • Ability to envision and create automation for provisioning and administration tasks.
  • Document and maintain database policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Relevant database/cloud certifications preferred.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 105,600 USD - 144,900 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
