Summary:

The Environmental Emergency Response/Remediation Specialist coordinates with and provides support to Field Operations teams, Engineering, Regulatory, Safety, Legal, and Construction personnel to ensure compliance with all environmental requirements and programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Administer and conduct activities for soil and groundwater large and small-scale remediation projects.
  • Assess and evaluate soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water site data.
  • Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Conduct verification sampling to assess the progress of site cleanups.
  • Prepare proposals and write remediation reports confirming the work done and that project objectives have been met.
  • Oversee contracts and budgets for remediation projects.
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports
  • Communicating on the phone and in meetings with operations and government departments, and presenting remedial action plans and recommendations
  • Researching remediation techniques and consulting with other remediation specialists and professionals
  • Touring and inspecting sites
  • Support Operations and Environmental Compliance Specialist during emergency response efforts, including but not limited to short term and long remediation efforts as well as waste management


Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:



  • Minimum of a BS Degree in environmental science/geology/engineering or related field
  • 8+ years' experience in an emergency response/remediation related position
  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills and able to effectively interface with all levels of management, field personnel and professionals
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize work and adaptable to changing due dates
  • Demonstrated organization, attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to manage work load independently and deliver timely and accurate results
  • Capable of working well under restricted timelines and in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Experience in Soil/groundwater sampling
  • Experience with TXRRC, TCEQ, NMOCD, and NMED regulations and requirements as well as BLM and NMSLO requirements for emergency response and remediation activities


Preferred Qualifications:

* OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training

* ICS 100, 200, 300, 700, 800

* Prior remediation experience in the oil and gas industry

* Texas PG or PE (Civil or Environmental)

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

* Usually, normal office working conditions.

* Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

* Occasional overnight travel may be required.

* Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
