Job Overview

Due to an upcoming retirement, we have a unique opportunity to join our corporate IT team as a Lead SAP Business Analyst - DTO. This role is working onsite and can be based at our headquarters in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL (near O'Hare). Alternative work locations will not be considered.

In this role you will serve as a knowledge expert within the Information Technology Organization



  • Responsible for the design, implementation and improvement of the SAP ECC and S4 Hana systems related to Engineering Interfaces, Engineering Change Management, Variant Configuration (Master data), Classification and P2P integration for our global business units
  • Develop strong partnerships with business leadership and functional team to ensure open communication and alignment on ongoing initiatives and understanding of business requirements and impacts
  • Trusted partner of the EBPO team to deliver business transformation Project Monarch with SAP S/4 Hana platform for Design to Operation (DTO) as well as interfaces to Plan to Deliver (P2D). Provide alignment with business leadership to ensure the transformation project new processes realize business values identified.
  • Discuss and implement process improvements individually or with the AMS team that are consistent to business strategy, maintain an awareness of functional best practices, and partner with the user community and business user leadership to appropriately prioritize requests to balance future technology and business needs
  • Evaluate current state applications environment and drive initiatives to improve and deliver optimized solutions leveraging AMS resources when possible
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with IT peers, AMS, cross-functional team members, internal customers, and external contacts such as suppliers & customers
  • Assign, design, configure, develop and document system change requests per departmental systems life cycle and audit guidelines including thorough use of ticket logging system (e.g., Cherwell, ServiceNow or equivalent)
  • Develop detailed project tasks to support assigned projects, participate/lead configuration, testing, deployment, and documentation processes focusing on implementing regional and global strategies for assigned work

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Business Process knowledge

    • Lead D2O business process discussions for complex projects including application development package roll-out
    • Effectively communicate and work within a global team to coordinate and complete assignments for implementations, upgrades, modifications, and value opportunities associated with quote to cash processes
    • Manage Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into detailed specifications
    • Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization


  • SAP implementation and configuration

    • Hands-on Engineering Change Management, PLM Interfaces, Variant Configuration (Master Data), Classification and Production Planning experience within ECC and S/4 in application and configuration for the global project implementation, Manufacturing industry preferred.
    • Ensure Engineering requirements for various MTO, ETO, CTO and Engineering interfaces as well as related functions are translated into detailed functional specifications and consider cross functional impacts, associated risks, cost benefit analysis, business justification, audit guidelines and global support requirements
    • Expert knowledge in sales and logistics processes detailed below:

      • Engineering Change Management
      • Document Management Links (for drawings/PRTs and other related document references)
      • Variant Configuration Master Data Setup & Classification
      • ETO/MTO/CTO/MTS process familiarity
      • Material Master, Bill of Material, effectivity, supercession/parts replacement knowledge
      • EDI, Workflow and/or Cenit knowledge a plus
      • Engineering Time Tracking/Project Systems knowledge a plus




  • Project activities

    • Develop and oversee project plans, resource and capacity planning, testing, deployment, and documentation processes focusing on implementing regional and global strategies, particularly in SAP S/4 HANA.
    • Work directly with AMS staff to ensure project/support deliveries
    • Work directly with vendor/partners to augment staff capabilities.
    • Provide training to key and end users
    • Lead data extraction/cleanup and load activities to ensure good data initially introduced to SAP



Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, IT/Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of progressive experience to include: Configuring, testing and supporting SAP Eng and/or PP, as well as assisting SAP business users on standard functionality and business processes and testing of new functionality and leading
  • Expert in Engineering Change Management including interfaces, Materials, BOMs, VC and classification. Some experience with MRP, Production, Workflow advantageous
  • Knowledge of software application architecture, programming, software engineering, relational database theory and design including the SAP architecture basics for Netweaver, Fiori, etc.
  • Previous project management experience and ability to manage multiple small projects
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, and coaching junior employees & support staff (3rd party support organization/AMS).
  • Business knowledge should include all phases of system development, from requirements identification, project planning, analysis, implementation and support
  • Working knowledge of databases, applications, and data integration interfaces
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus, especially Spanish, Portuguese, French, Mandarin, Russian or Polish
