Job Summary

The Administrative and Operations Analyst will provide administrative support for the Department of Surgery at ZSFG in the areas of finance, HR, IT, and programmatic support. This position will support central divisional business operations including financial reporting, supply chain management, event planning, IT troubleshooting, and space planning.

This position will work closely with administrative leadership and the Trauma and Acute Care faculty leadership to develop and implement strategic plans, and will perform and oversee special projects and assignments that are highly sensitive or complex in nature, requiring a high level of independence and initiative in execution and implementation.

This individual must be able to work independently, demonstrate excellent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, and partner effectively with the department leadership and members of the division's clinical, research, and administrative teams.

Department Description

The UCSF Department of Surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General provides surgical services for the benefit of our patients and professional colleagues twenty-four hours each day, seven days a week. Our Trauma Center excels in the care of patients with injuries, burns, complex wounds, surgical infections and patients requiring surgical critical care.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 3+ years Administration, operations, program coordination or related
  • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills to interact with faculty, staff, and trainees with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as (but not limited to) event planning, risk management, facilities, compliance, onboarding, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, use discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem solving, and customer service.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including ability to concurrently prioritize and manage a variety of tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow through.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and learn new skills effectively and professionally in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining positive, flexible, proactive, and efficient.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Thorough knowledge of University and ZSFG administrative rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures related to medical staff management, clinical operations, personnel, and/or financial management.
