Responsibilities

Job Description:

River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Referral Care Navigator, to assist and take direction from the Department Manager and work cooperatively with other personnel while maintaining a high level of quality service.

The Referral Care Navigator: To assist in the process of receiving behavioral health referrals, seeking appropriate level of care facility acceptance for referred individuals in need of treatment services , entering referral information and case status into data bases, verifying appropriate paperwork is thoroughly completed and assisting with coordination of individuals into treatment facilities. Customer service, thorough and accurate documentation of all referral information and other related paperwork is a critical component of this role.

Job description includes but not limited to:

Answers referral phones calls and responds to fixed referrals in a timely manner.

Coordinates and processes patient documents and paperwork for patient transfers.

Assists with the filing of mental health involuntary paperwork and is willing to learn various mental health system processes, with applicable.

Provides and assists with professional communication to referral sources and treatment provides regarding case status.

Assures that all required information is accurately documented within several information system programs.

Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, use critical thinking skills as well as attention to detail. Preexisting knowledge or willingness to learn multiple mental health systems and court processes. Proficiency in Microsoft, data entry and the ability to utilize multiple information system programs.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degrees in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Social Services field.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Registered Nurse; LPN
