Position Summary

To provide quality customer service and assistance to members and guests within the Ice Arena venue.

Essential Functions



  • Must be able to provide customer service for members and guests entering assigned venue, be able to provide direction and answer questions as needed, ensure all members and guests are given prompt and courteous service.
  • Assist and direct members and guests in moving about the facility to avoid crowded conditions and maximize service efficiency.
  • Verify membership status through point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Must be able to handle cash, make changes and operate point-of-sale (POS) software system. Will wait on members and guests according to established procedures.
  • Monitor all recreation activity in assigned venue.
  • Responsible for maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of all work areas. Keep sales area clean and neatly arranged at all times.
  • Answer all incoming calls quickly and politely; accurately answer basic questions about facility wide events and programs; provide specific knowledge of all assigned venue programs and functions.
  • Work with volunteers, co-workers, members, and guests on a professional level. Interface with peers, supervisors and people of various socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Adhere to RJKCCC operations as well as all policy procedures as adopted by Administrations.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment; report all harmful problems with facility to the proper supervisor.
  • Assist in emergency or accident situations as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings as assigned.
  • Assist in venue specific program preparations and clean up.
  • Secure POS area at the close of shift.
  • Attend and complete at least 2 hours of Child Safety training as approved by The Salvation Army.
  • Report any suspicion of child abuse to the appropriate supervisor and Child Protective Services.
  • Generate legible and accurate accident and incident reports as required and forward to supervisor in time frames established.
  • Provide activities for participants of all ages in assigned venue.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions in English.
  • Previous cashier and/or customer service work experience helpful.
  • Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities



  • Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
  • Ability to function in an often loud, cold environment.
  • Computer software application experience helpful.
  • Ability to ice skate safely and assist other.
