Advanced Practice Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is Wisconsin's leader in health and science. Mission Provide a structured clinical and professional educational to foster growth of highly skilled nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) in multidisciplinary, collaborative, and evidence-based management of complex patients through clinical and didactic experiences and professional mentorship. PROGRAM PURPOSE The Medical College Physician's APP Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship is an innovative a one-year training program that teaches APP fellows to become highly skilled in the multidisciplinary, collaborative, and evidence-based management of Orthopaedic patients across the entire spectrum of care from the OR, Inpatient, and Outpatient settings. An innovative 12-month curriculum composed of in-person didactics, online classrooms, and mentored clinical rotations throughout all of our subspecialty Orthopaedic programs. Fellows will have rotations in the Inpatient/Pre-Op area, Oncology, Trauma, Foot and Ankle, Hand and Upper Extremity, Sports, Spine, Joints, Peds, General MSK, PT/OT/PM&R, and have an opportunity for electives. PROGRAM LEADERSHIP Fellowship APP Critical Care Program Director: Stephanie Ludtke, PA-C, MPAS Fellowship Associate Program Director: Monica Ryan, PA-C, MPAS Orthopaedic Surgery APP Manager: Keenan Horness, PA-C, MPAS Fellowship Medical Director/Supervising Physician: Dr. Gregory Schmeling Primary Supervising/Collaborative Physician: Dr. Michael Tracy Zundel Fellowship Administrator: Michelle Behling Office of Advanced Practice: Fellowship Director: Sarah Vanderlinden, MPAS, PA-C Fellowship Administrator: Julie Raaum, DNP, APRN FELLOWSHIP EXPECTATIONS Advanced Assessment: Elicits, selects, and integrates information in the care of patients with acute, critical, and/or complex chronic illnesses using physiologic technologic and pharmacologic inputs. Differential Diagnosis: Makes and prioritizes real and potential conditions based on available data and the complexity and severity of patient condition. Outcomes Identification: Formulates goals and outcomes using scientific evidence that are consistent with the patient's wishes and present and potential capabilities. Plan of Care: Develops, prescribes, and/or modifies an outcomes-focused plan of care with an interprofessional team targeting health care that may be restorative, curative, rehabilitative, maintenance and or end-of-life for patients with complex needs. Implementation of Treatment: Identifies, prescribes, performs or delegates therapeutic interventions. Evaluation of Care: Demonstrates ongoing evaluation of plan of care, recognizing patient response to therapy and change in condition, making modifications and assimilation of care team recommendations.
