  • Love God. Love People. Serve.

At The Salvation Army, we are dedicated to doing the most good. We are...

Passionate

Our faith gives us a motivation that goes beyond simply doing good. We have a passion for Doing The Most Good for body, soul and spirit.

Compassionate

Caring for the poor. Feeding the hungry. Sheltering the homeless. Befriending the friendless.

Uplifting

The Salvation Army is a beacon of hope, a safe harbor. Our founder envisioned those in need saying, "If I could only get to The Salvation Army, they will do something for me."

Brave

We go into places others prefer to avoid: impoverished neighborhoods, jails/prisons, hospitals and nursing homes, gatherings of people combating addiction and the immediate scene of disasters.

Trustworthy

To those who want to positively affect their world, The Salvation Army is the charity that maximizes their contributions by using 88 cents of every dollar donated to provide direct services.

Our Mission

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus.

We share the love of Jesus by:

  • Caring for people
  • Creating faith pathways
  • Building healthy communities
  • Working for justice

Our Values

The following values are central to the operation of The Salvation Army:

  • Integrity - Being honest and accountable in all we do
  • Compassion - Hearing and responding to pain with love
  • Respect - Affirming the worth and capacity of all people
  • Diversity - Embracing difference as a gift
  • Collaboration - Creating partnerships in mission

We see each person as having inherent value with rights and responsibilities. Therefore, we seek to invest in the potential of all people, treating them with respect, valuing them as equals and working with them to restore their sense of self-worth, in a culturally sensitive manner. We respectfully work alongside communities and other stakeholders to improve social, economic, health, and spiritual needs.

Ranked as the number one treatment program in Michigan by Newsweek Magazine, the Harbor Light offers a more complete experience and improved health for individuals through integrated health services, offering a seamless team-based approach between various caregivers, medical professionals, substance abuse treatment, mental healthcare providers, and patients themselves, collectively working in one setting to achieve desired health outcomes.

Together, we can make a difference.
