Job Summary:



The primary responsibility of the Director of Research Pharmacy Operations is to provide services related to the operations of the Research Pharmacy of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences on the Anschutz Medical Campus. This position will oversee the provision of pharmacist services to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the Research Pharmacy. The position involves review and update of existing policies, standard operating procedures, and protocols as well as assisting with the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and SOPs as needed for the Research Pharmacy. The Director of Pharmacy Operations will be responsible for ensuring compliance with both sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures, providing quality customer service, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations along with applicable practice and administration standards.

This position will also include pharmacy business management responsibilities, such as overseeing purchasing and billing. The position will require a good understanding of pharmacy financials and the ability to present the data to various stakeholders. The Director of Pharmacy Operations will be responsible for supervising pharmacists and pharmacy technicians within the Research Pharmacy and will assist in various clinical and academic projects. In addition, the Research Pharmacy will serve as an educational training site for pharmacy students and the Director will be involved in the training and supervision of pharmacy students engaged in academic rotations. This position also will serve on the Research Pharmacy Financial Oversight Committee.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the Research Pharmacy, including financial administration, management of pharmaceutical services, and supervision of pharmacy technicians.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, standard operating procedures, and protocols needed to ensure efficient and profitable operations of the Research Pharmacy.
  • Provide clinical/pharmaceutical expertise to research teams and other stakeholders in relation to investigational products and compounding.
  • Ability to relate pharmacy financials to stakeholders such as the School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine; participate in annual Cost Analysis study for the pharmacy
  • Work closely with other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to deliver and maintain high-quality, accurate and efficient services related to operations of the Research Pharmacy.
  • Exercises knowledge of contemporary pharmacy practice and regulatory standards in order to operate a research pharmacy which is fully compliant with applicable licensing, regulatory (local, State, and Federal), and product preparation and dispensing requirements for investigational drug units.
  • Participate in the education and mentoring of student pharmacists on academic rotations in the Research Pharmacy.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • PharmD degree
  • Licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of Colorado
  • Two (2) years of experience in pharmacy operations


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge and previous experience related to investigational drug products and investigational trials
  • Experience with compounding and clean room procedures
  • Experience with pharmacy business, including financial reporting and personnel management, preferred
  • Supervisory experience

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$130,000 - $160,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
