Job Overview

Build something big! As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer at Komatsu Longview Operations, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of our products by managing and improving the performance of our suppliers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, assess supplier capabilities, and implement robust quality assurance processes throughout the supply chain.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Supplier Evaluation and Development: Assess and qualify new suppliers, conduct periodic supplier audits, and collaborate with vendors to enhance their quality management systems.

2. Quality Assurance Processes: Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality assurance processes for incoming materials, ensuring compliance with Komatsu's quality standards.

3. Problem Resolution: Investigate and address supplier-related quality issues, non-conformances, and deviations. Implement corrective and preventive actions to ensure long-term quality improvement.

4. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives, implement best practices, and optimize processes to enhance overall product quality and reliability.

5. Quality Metrics Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality, providing regular reports to management and taking proactive measures to address any deviations.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on quality requirements, specifications, and standards for both current and new products.

7. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and standards, ensuring that suppliers adhere to all quality and regulatory requirements.

8. Mentoring: Help guide and mentor Quality Engineers in industrial best practices and Supplier Quality methods.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in supplier quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, Six Sigma, and statistical process control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to travel as needed to conduct supplier audits and assessments.
  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification a plus but not required.
