Position Summary:

Apply clinical practices and provide client services to the clients of The Salvation Army Harbor Light.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Conduct individual, group, and educational counseling sessions
  • Maintain case records in accordance with Harbor Light standards
  • Follows up to determine reliability and validity of individual client treatment plan established; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery
  • Maintain contact with referral sources, (i.e., gatekeeper, parole/probation agents) submitting requests for authorization for treatment as well as required reports
  • Complete discharge documentation on each client to include aftercare plan, referral and letters to referring agencies
  • Participates in the review of all clinical issues, activities and program policies and procedures
  • Distribute/collect treatment satisfaction surveys at beginning of treatment, mid treatment and at discharge
  • Attends all clinical staff meetings, and team conferences
  • Participates in educational courses, seminars, workshops, current literature and in-service meetings to enhance treatment skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education/Experience:



  • Must possess a Masters degree in Behavioral Science (Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology)
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with substance abuse populations
  • TB Test and police clearance required
  • Authorization to work within The United States


Certificates and Licenses:



  • Must possess approved MCBAP certification (CADC, CAADC, etc), approved Development Plan, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
  • Must possess State of Michigan license (LLMSW, LMSW, LPC, LLPC)
