Job Summary The Respiratory Care Supervisor is the front line representative for the Respiratory Care Management Team; assuring that clinical and regulatory practices meet policy and operational needs of respiratory care activities for Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency Department and other related patient care areas within their respective campus. Assures appropriate coordination and distribution of staffing and resources. Performs clinical support and supervision of RT staff in conjunction with the manager of Respiratory Care. As a direct care provider, the supervisor delivers competent care; applying advanced clinical skills to intervene in complex patient care situations and mentor staff in problem resolution. Assists Manager and Director in establishing best practice performance standards and assures adherence to Departmental Clinical Practice Guidelines. Advocates and requires accountability, professional communication, teamwork and shared decision making of their team members.Accountabilities
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Respiratory Care, Education, or related field Minimum Experience 3 Years experience as a bedside therapist in an acute care setting with at least 1 yr experience at Prisma Health Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements Associate's Degree. Graduate of a school for Respiratory Therapy approved by AMA or a successor accrediting authority Other Required Experience
Critical thinking, problem solving, planning, organizational skills, teamwork and adaptability along with advanced knowledge of clinical and healthcare business practices required. Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care or other health care related field preferred.
