80% FTE, evening/night shift with an every third weekend rotation. Holiday rotation required. This position is eligible to receive a $4/hour evening, $5/hour night and $4.25/hour weekend differential as applicable for hours worked. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

Bring your passion in caring for others to the Neuro ICU, a unit that serves as a hub of intensive care for our Comprehensive Stroke Center and the #1 hospital in Wisconsin!

We are seeking an experienced inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to:



  • Practice on an 18-bed unit that specializes in the care of critically ill adult patients with a variety of neuro diagnoses including, but not limited to: stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, surgical resections, and trauma.
  • Provide strong critical thinking skills along with specialized interventions and procedures such as hemodynamic monitoring and hypothermia.

Education:

Preferred - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Work Experience:

Minimum - Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.

Preferred - Relevant RN Experience

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum - Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact. Current CPR/BLS Certification. ACLS obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred - Relevant Certification

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
  • Experience in teaching patients and families.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members.
