To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles, and... To make these, you must see, test and manufacture them at scale-faster and better than ever before. That's where KLA comes in. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced professional, you'll solve complex challenges, work alongside brilliant minds and help shape the future of technology.

Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA's product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The SPTS division provides advanced wafer processing solutions-including etch, deposition and vapor-based technologies-designed for R&D through high-volume production. With a global presence and strong customer support network, SPTS helps manufacturers across industries improve performance, yield and cost-efficiency. It also offers comprehensive service and spare parts through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

KLA is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting complex equipment. This hands-on role provides the opportunity to develop experience across electrical design, machine controls, system integration, testing, and manufacturing while contributing to advanced semiconductor process equipment, including Vapor HF, XeF etch, and MVD deposition systems. You will work alongside experienced electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and service engineers throughout the product lifecycle, giving you the opportunity to see your designs move from concept and documentation through build, integration, and operation.

Job Duties, but not limited to:

  • Design and support electrical systems for complex process equipment, including control panels, electrical enclosures, power distribution, I/O, cabling, and interconnects.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O plans, from-to lists, and supporting engineering documentation.
  • Develop cable and harness designs and manufacturing documentation.
  • Create and update pneumatic schematics and P&IDs.
  • Support integration of PLC and PC-based controls, sensors, actuators, I/O, machine sequencing, and PID-based control systems.
  • Develop and execute electrical test plans to support engineering development and manufacturing.
  • Perform hands-on electrical testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Support prototype builds, equipment integration, manufacturing, and continuous product improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to troubleshoot technical challenges and improve equipment performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with electrical systems for industrial equipment, automated machinery, process equipment, or other complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience reading or developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cabling, I/O, or electrical documentation.
  • Familiarity with PLC-based controls, machine control systems, or industrial automation.
  • Exposure to pneumatic systems and P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical design practices and standards such as NFPA 79 or UL 508A.
  • Experience with electrical CAD or design tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar platforms.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Experience in any of the following areas is beneficial, but not required:

  • Semiconductor, vacuum, process, or industrial automation equipment
  • Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD Electrical
  • PLC programming or ladder logic
  • Servo or stepper motor systems
  • PC-controlled industrial equipment
  • Prototype development, equipment integration, or new product introduction

Why Join KLA?

This is an opportunity to expand your engineering capabilities while working on sophisticated equipment where you can see the direct impact of your work. Rather than focusing on one narrow component, you will gain exposure to electrical design, controls, pneumatics, equipment integration, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing while learning from experienced engineers across multiple disciplines. And you do not need previous semiconductor experience to make an impact. If your background is in industrial automation, controls, machine design, process equipment, vacuum systems, or complex electromechanical equipment, your experience may translate well to this opportunity. At KLA, you'll have the opportunity to build deeper technical expertise, take on increasing responsibility, and contribute to technologies used in some of the world's most advanced manufacturing environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years
