GL and A/R Accounting Manager, U.S.

Impact and Opportunity


The U.S. GL and A/R Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing accounting activities for the division headquarters, including direct management of the Accounts Receivable team and supporting the division's monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies, and the effectiveness of internal controls.


The Accounting Manager partners closely with the North America Controller, to support accounting, financial reporting, and close activities across the North America region. The role also leads and develops accounting personnel, strengthens accounting processes and controls, and drives continuous improvement across divisional accounting operations

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Owner of the division headquarters trial balance which includes key balances and activities including: sales, accounts receivable, engineering expenses, engineering reimbursements, customer pricing accruals, payroll, fixed assets, customer owned tooling, warranty provision, investments in non-consolidated subs.
  • Manage and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations and prepare balance sheet analytics.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Gentherm accounting policies and SOX internal control requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including customer invoicing, cash application, account reconciliations, collections, deductions, and aging management.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging, overdue balances, and key working-capital metrics.
  • Establish effective processes for identifying, escalating, and resolving customer disputes and deductions.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Commercial Finance, and business leadership to resolve customer account issues and improve cash collection.
  • Partner with FP&A, tax, treasury, legal, HR, and operations on accounting matters and business initiatives.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor accounting team members.
  • Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation.
  • Assist division accounting leadership with region and global accounting matters and support special projects.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and assist with audit requests, testing, and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or accounting experience with a public company.
  • 2+ years of people management or demonstrated team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience in a manufacturing and multinational organization.
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with financial systems such as SAP, OneStream, or Hyperion.
