What to Expect

This position will work as a member of Tesla's Instrumentation, Calibration and Imaging team to support product validation of Tesla products in development; Robotaxi, Semi, Next-gen vehicles, Optimus, etc. Additionally, within this role, the person will continue providing support to the rest of the Tesla products as dictated by the priorities. This role is responsible for performing and overseeing all instrumentation and data acquisition of components, sub-systems, and full vehicles in a laboratory and proving ground environments. The role demands strong electrical fundamentals, attention to detail, rapid iteration amid changing plans, and close collaboration with engineers. The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in automotive testing.


What You'll Do
  • Identify, source, and procure required data acquisition and sensors
  • Install sensors and data acquisition hardware on the part or vehicle under test
  • Set up a data acquisition program and validate the connectivity of all the sensors
  • Installation, calibration, and setting up of strain gages or thermocouples is a plus
  • Maintain sensor library, sensor repair, and coordinate calibration activities of all instrumentation
  • Prepare testing kits including wire harness builds on as needed basis
  • Design and create custom brackets and fixtures
  • Support testing activities and/or vehicle preparation and tear-down as required by workflow priority
  • Perform onsite support and testing wh.ile monitoring and validating data
  • Basic data analysis and data cleanup by working closely with multiple engineering teams

What You'll Bring
  • Experience with sensors such as Thermocouples, Accelerometers, l\Loadcells, Pressure sensors, Torque transducers, Strain gages, etc.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems like Labview, DEWEsoft, OpenDAQ, etc.
  • Formal electronics training (AC/DC circuits, formulae, and components) or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to operate and use diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment
  • Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools and shop tools
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public
  • Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • A minimum of 3 years of instrumentation and data acquisition experience or applicable degree/certification
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Flexibility to travel within bay area (Up to 20%)

    Expected Compensation
    $28.80 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
