The Center for Faculty Development and Advancement (CFDA) invites applications from faculty of all ranks for a Faculty Mentorship Fellow position. This appointment provides an opportunity for a faculty member to play a leadership role in expanding and strengthening mentoring initiatives across the University of Colorado Denver.

The Faculty Mentorship Fellow will partner with CFDA to cultivate a robust culture of mentorship that supports faculty success, belonging, career advancement, and community building. While the Fellow will assist with existing mentorship initiatives, they will also have significant autonomy to develop and implement new mentoring programs, pilot innovative approaches, and help shape the future direction of faculty mentoring at CU Denver.

The Fellow will work collaboratively with CFDA leadership while bringing their own expertise, ideas, and creativity to the role. Faculty who are passionate about mentoring and interested in designing meaningful programs that address emerging faculty needs are especially encouraged to apply.

This position requires an estimated commitment of 5-7 hours per week during the academic year.

Working Faculty Title
What you will do:

Mentorship Program Development and Innovation

  • Collaborate with CFDA to expand and enhance faculty mentoring initiatives across the university.
  • Assist with the recruitment, matching, and ongoing support of faculty mentors and mentees.
  • Develop resources, tools, and programming that strengthen mentoring strategies, relationships, and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and implement new mentoring strategies that address the evolving needs of faculty.

Mentorship Circles

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and assessment of faculty mentorship circles.
  • Develop new mentorship circle models based on faculty interests and institutional priorities.
  • Support and facilitate mentorship circles as needed while creating opportunities for interdisciplinary networking and peer support.

Identity-Based Mentoring Initiatives

  • Collaborate with campus partners to develop mentoring opportunities that support faculty from diverse backgrounds, identities, and career experiences.
  • Design and implement identity-based mentoring programs that foster belonging, community, and professional growth.
  • Explore emerging best practices and develop creative approaches to supporting faculty through mentoring networks and communities.

Faculty-Led Program Development

  • Propose and develop new mentoring programs aligned with their interests, expertise, and identified faculty needs.
  • Pilot innovative mentoring models and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with CFDA staff to translate ideas into sustainable programs and resources.
  • Serve as a thought partner in shaping the strategic direction of mentoring efforts at CU Denver.

Assessment and Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and analyze feedback from mentoring participants.
  • Contribute to program evaluation efforts and recommendations for future growth.
  • Assist in documenting impacts and outcomes of mentoring initiatives.

Campus Engagement and Outreach

  • Serve as a champion for mentorship and faculty development.
  • Promote mentoring opportunities across the institution.
  • Build connections with faculty, departments, and campus partners to strengthen mentoring engagement.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Current faculty appointment at the University of Colorado Denver.
  • Demonstrated commitment to faculty development, mentoring, or academic career advancement.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines and career stages.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience mentoring faculty or leading faculty development initiatives.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, learning communities, or professional development programs.
  • Experience in faculty leadership roles, such as program director, department chair, committee chair, or similar positions.
  • Interest in faculty well-being, productivity, engagement, and career development.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring, faculty success, and community building.
  • Bring creativity, initiative, and a willingness to develop new programs and approaches.
  • Enjoy collaborating with colleagues while also working independently to advance projects.

Conditions of Employment

  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
  • Current faculty appointment at the University of Colorado Denver.
  • Position will last for one academic year.

  • This position may be performed in a hybrid or remote environment, requiring the ability to work effectively in a remote setting. This includes maintaining a dedicated workspace free of excessive noise or distractions, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to participate in virtual meetings for extended periods. Employees must be able to independently manage time, remain stationary for prolonged computer-based work, and transport necessary equipment (such as a laptop and peripherals) between their remote work location and the office as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at - $5,000 stipend.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is/is not eligible for overtime compensation.
