POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Generalist plays a role in supporting technological infrastructure of the organization and ensuring the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network systems. This position contributes to maintaining a secure, efficient, and user-friendly IT environment that supports the company's mission and daily operations. The focus of this position will be on mastering Tier 1 support, understanding core systems, and developing strong customer service habits.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Provide first-level technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, account set up, passwords resets.
  • Install and configure desktop/laptop computers, printers, and basic software.
  • Assist with user onboarding/offboarding and account setup.
  • Support basic networking tasks (Wi-Fi, VPN connectivity).
  • Maintain documentation of IT assets and support resolutions.
  • Follows established IT policies and procedures accurately.
  • Gain understanding and troubleshooting capabilities of engineering applications (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam).
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve questions in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of computer technology/systems and specific areas of application.
  • Proficiency in basic PC troubleshooting, printer issues, Office Suite, VPN, Windows OS, imaging computers, and Autodesk products.
  • Organized and able to manage time effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Represent KFI in a professional manner and comply with policies and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Travel: minimal as needed for projects and/or training.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in IT support or help desk roles.
  • Exposure to engineering or architectural software
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and basic IT documentation practices.

Working Conditions

  • May require extended periods of time sitting at a desk or computer workstation.
  • Ability to Lift 50 pounds.
