About the Job

As a Grapple Driver, you'll operate a commercial refuse collection vehicle on assigned and special routes to collect yard waste, garbage, recycling, and other materials. You'll be responsible for safely operating the truck and hydraulic equipment, completing required vehicle inspections, maintaining your equipment, and providing excellent service to our customers.

What You'll Do

• Safely operate a Grapple/refuse collection truck on assigned local routes.
• Collect and transport yard waste, garbage, refuse, and/or recycling.
• Operate truck hydraulics and specialized equipment to safely collect materials.
• Transport and unload collected materials at landfills, transfer stations, or other designated facilities.
• Complete required daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Complete Safety Lane inspections and required DVIR documentation.
• Inspect tires, fluid levels, the undercarriage, and other vehicle safety components.
• Keep your truck and equipment clean and in safe operating condition.
• Provide courteous and professional service to customers and the public.
• Complete required company and DOT paperwork.
• Follow Waste Pro safety procedures and all applicable DOT requirements.
• Maintain responsibility for the safety of helpers and other employees working on the vehicle.
• Assist with clean-up of scattered materials when necessary.
• Participate in required company and safety training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Earn Up to a $10,000 Safety Performance Bonus

At Waste Pro, safe driving and strong performance are rewarded. Eligible regular, full-time CDL drivers can earn a $10,000 Safety Performance Bonus after completing the required three-year measurement period and meeting the program's eligibility requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Valid Class A or Class B CDL required.
• Acceptable driving record.
• At least 1 year of CDL driving experience within the past 7 years.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Waste or refuse industry experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT and state requirements for commercial motor vehicle operators.
• Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and specialized equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and supervisors.
• Ability to understand highway and traffic signs and signals and complete required paperwork.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to independently push or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to independently lift up to 50 lbs. from the ground to waist height.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance when required.
• Ability to enter and exit a commercial vehicle approximately 30-50 times per day.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach, climb, and perform other physical movements throughout the workday.
• Ability to reach overhead and use equipment necessary to secure tarps.
• Ability to climb up to 8 feet when required to deploy a tarp.
• Ability to work 8-12 hour shifts in outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.

This position works primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to changing weather conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, and dust.
