AST Project Scientist III

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AST Project Scientist III to lead and contribute to complex scientific projects focused on environmental assessment and compliance. This role is central to our mission, requiring a blend of advanced scientific research, comprehensive project management, and expert environmental data interpretation. The successful candidate is expected to drive strategic planning, conduct thorough investigations, and ensure rigorous environmental compliance. This position demands exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong leadership, and effective communication to engage diverse stakeholders and deliver high-quality technical reports.

• Lead and manage environmental projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget, demonstrating comprehensive project management skills.
• Conduct advanced scientific research and analysis, including complex field investigation and data acquisition, to address critical environmental challenges.
• Develop and implement strategic planning initiatives for project execution and long-term scientific objectives, coordinating efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform expert environmental data interpretation, utilizing knowledge of Biology, Geology, and Soil Science to inform project decisions and recommendations.
• Prepare and review high-quality technical report writing, proposals, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Ensure strict adherence to environmental laws and regulatory frameworks, providing expertise in environmental compliance and permitting.
• Oversee and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative environment and demonstrating effective leadership in daily operations.
• Engage in effective stakeholder engagement and communication, presenting findings and recommendations to clients, regulatory agencies, and the public.
• Drive continuous improvement in data collection methodologies and problem-solving approaches for complex environmental issues.

• A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Soil Science, or a closely related scientific field.
• Should possess 5-7 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, scientific research, or project management within an applied science and technology context.
• Thorough knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and environmental compliance principles.
• Demonstrated experience in complex field investigation, data collection, and expert environmental data interpretation.
• Working knowledge of project management methodologies and experience coordinating scientific operations.
• Is required to demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities and a detail-oriented approach to scientific work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Exceptional writing and communication skills for technical report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• A valid Driver's License is required for field activities and travel to project sites.

• A Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience with strategic planning and leadership roles on large-scale environmental projects.
• Prior experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering professional development.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Security Clearance.
