Description
Primary responsibilities of the Surgical Technician include:
- Prepare, inspect, and organize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to departmental standards and procedure requirements.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to infection prevention and aseptic techniques.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by providing instruments, supplies, medications, and equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist surgeons and perioperative staff during procedures, including surgical counts, specimen handling, patient positioning, draping, dressings, and related intraoperative support activities.
- Ensure the proper care, handling, and processing of surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare team members to promote patient safety and positive surgical outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and professional development activities.
Salary Range: $50.30/hr
Qualifications
We're seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated professional with:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program, required.
- Minimum two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience, required.
- Ability to scrub in multiple surgical specialties/service lines, required.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, required.
- Surgical Technician certification from the NBSTSA, preferred.
- Knowledge of universal precautions, aseptic technique, operating room sanitation, and applicable departmental policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, medical terminology, surgical instrumentation, and operating room equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, prioritize responsibilities, recognize emergencies, and respond appropriately in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate attention to detail, maintain accuracy, safely handle surgical equipment, and perform the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged standing, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and maintaining current knowledge of surgical practices and technologies.
