| Summary of Position: |
The Title IX (Deputy Coordinator) reports to the Title IX Coordinator Administrator and supports the University's coordinated compliance with Title IX and related University policies. The Deputy Coordinator serves as the operational deputy for day-to-day response and case administration, including intake, supportive measures, investigations, informal resolution support, records management, education, prevention, and campus outreach.
Working under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Coordinator helps ensure that reports are addressed promptly, equitably, impartially, and with care; that parties understand available resources and resolution options; and that University partners across all locations receive consistent guidance. The position exercises independent judgment within delegated authority and may act on behalf of the Title IX Coordinator when assigned or when the Coordinator is unavailable. The Title IX Coordinator retains primary responsibility and final authority for University-wide Title IX compliance, policy interpretation, formal complaint determinations, and oversight of grievance processes.
The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future. The University will not assist with any F-1 EADs, OPT, H-1B, or similar employment sponsorship.
Offers are determined based on a review of the candidate's qualifications, including education, training, experience, and internal pay equity considerations.
Placement within the range will generally be based on the following factors: Entry-Range: Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and core requirements of the position. Mid-Range: Candidates with three or more years of directly related professional experience and demonstrate proficiency in the key responsibilities of the role.
Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's overall qualifications, experience, and alignment with the University's compensation philosophy in consultation with Human Resources. |

Experience conducting trauma-informed intake and prompt, thorough, equitable, and impartial investigations.
Experience with higher education case-management systems, data analysis, compliance reporting, and records-retention practices.
Experience developing and facilitating prevention, education, and role-specific training for students and employees.
Title IX certification from ATIXA, Grand River Solutions, NACUA, or an equivalent organization. |

| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Support the Title IX Coordinator in implementing and monitoring the University's compliance with Title IX, applicable federal and state requirements, and University policies and grievance procedures.
Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator and, within delegated authority, act on behalf of the Title IX Coordinator when assigned or when the Coordinator is unavailable; promptly elevate matters requiring the Coordinator's review or final determination.
Manage assigned reports and complaints from initial outreach through closure. Conduct trauma-informed intake meetings; explain rights, resources, supportive measures, and formal and informal resolution options; document party preferences; and provide timely follow-up.
Coordinate, implement, and periodically reassess individualized supportive measures in consultation with parties and appropriate University offices, while preserving privacy and equal access to educational and employment programs.
Conduct or assist with prompt, thorough, equitable, and impartial investigations of alleged sex discrimination, sex-based harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, retaliation, and other conduct within the scope of University policy. Develop investigation plans; interview parties and witnesses; gather and assess evidence; and prepare clear, accurate investigation reports.
Support formal and informal resolution processes by preparing notices and correspondence, coordinating timelines and logistics, maintaining communication with parties and advisors, and helping ensure compliance with policy and procedural requirements.
Maintain neutrality and avoid conflicts of interest or bias. Protect sensitive information and share information only as permitted or required by law and University policy.
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely case records in the University's record-keeping system. Track deadlines, supportive measures, case status, outcomes, training records, and other required documentation; conduct routine file audits and assist with records retention.
Compile and analyze case and program data to identify patterns, reporting barriers, response times, climate concerns, and opportunities for improvement. Assist the Title IX Coordinator with periodic and annual reports, regulatory reporting, and leadership briefings.
Serve as a consistent point of contact and resource for students, employees, applicants, visitors, and University partners at the main campus, Grand Rapids campuses, statewide locations, and online programs.
Collaborate with Student Life, Human Resources, Equal Opportunity, General Counsel, Public Safety, Athletics, Housing and Residence Life, Counseling, Birkam Health Center, Care Team, community partners/resources, academic leaders, and other partners to coordinate response, referrals, supportive measures, prevention, and education.
Communicate with the Department of Public Safety regarding Title IX and Clery obligations, preserve the independence of University and law-enforcement processes, and serve as a Campus Security Authority and Responsible Employee as defined by law and University policy.
Develop, coordinate, and facilitate Title IX education and prevention programs, including responsible employee training, role-specific training for Title IX team members and campus partners, student orientation content, bystander intervention, and primary prevention initiatives.
Support the Anti-Violence Alliance and other University groups in developing prevention strategies, reviewing climate data, and implementing initiatives that promote a respectful, violence-free learning and working environment.
Assist with administration of the University's campus climate survey and other assessment activities. Identify trends and recommend responsive education, outreach, policy, or process improvements to the Title IX Coordinator.
Develop and maintain accurate, accessible content for the University Title IX website, online reporting resources, student orientation platform, training materials, forms, and procedural guidance.
Maintain current knowledge of Title IX law, regulations, regulatory guidance, related civil rights and Clery requirements, and professional best practices. Complete all required annual and role-specific training.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of information pursuant to university policies and/or state or federal laws.
Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
