The Enterprise Innovation Institute, the Georgia Institute of Technology's economic development unit, serves all of Georgia through a variety of services and programs that build and scale startups, grow business enterprises, and energize ecosystem builders. Job Summary

Prepare copy for recruitment, development, news and public relations initiatives in print and electronically. Develop and incorporate strategic and targeted messages into copy while adhering to visual identity standards and Institute brand guidelines. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: faculty, staff, students. This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty, staff, students. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Write, edit, and proofread copy for brochures, annual reports, view books, web sites, video and radio scripts.

Job Duty 2 -
Participate in client meetings and prepare estimates for client projects; participate in project brainstorming sessions.

Job Duty 3 -
Contribute ideas and deliverables for brand-based marketing and communications initiatives.

Job Duty 4 -
Conduct on-camera interviews with featured faculty, students and administrators.

Job Duty 5 -
Execute and incorporate the Georgia Tech brand in printed and electronic communications applying visual identity guidelines.

Job Duty 6 -
Provide on-going training and monitoring new editorial employees; review work of junior-level editor.

Job Duty 7 -
Review work of freelance/contract editors and writers.

Job Duty 8 -
Participate with graphic designers in art direction on client projects.

Job Duty 9 -
Act as assignment editor.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Three to five years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Skills in use of project management and page layout software and AP or Chicago Manual of Style is preferred

Preferred Experience
Five years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in use of project management platforms such as monday.com or Basecamp preferred.
  • Knowledge of AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style is preferred.
  • Functional working knowledge of specific computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, project management programs like monday.com, digital marketing platforms such as Constant Contact, and AI tools including CoPilot, Gemini, or ChatGPT.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires advanced skills in writing and editing copy and functional working knowledge of specific word processing and presentation computer applications. Skills in organization, communications and detail orientation are also required.
