The Department of Philosophy is a PhD-granting department with strengths in philosophy of science, philosophy of cognitive science, and applied ethics and social/political philosophy. We comprise 14 full-time faculty, more than 25 active PhD students, and affiliated faculty across the University. Department faculty lead the Center for Public Engagement with Science (PEWS), the UC Center for Humanities and Technology (CHaT), and the Cincinnati Ethics Center. The department also has close connections to the Institute for Research in Sensing (IRiS) and the Center for Cognition, Action, and Perception (CAP). Many department faculty pursue interdisciplinary or empirically informed research projects. Job Overview
The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2027 with an Area of Specialization (AOS) in Ancient Philosophy and with an Area of Competence (AOC) in Comparative or Non-Western Philosophy or Ethics.
