The analysts serve as the primary resource on academic personnel issues for the Associate Deans, Academic Personnel Manager, Department Managers and department staff. Academic personnel analysts also serve in the back-up role for the School of Nursing. They provide analytical support for the broad range of academic personnel activities in the School of Medicine pertaining to members of the Academic Senate or Academic Federation, collective bargaining units, visiting titles, graduate titles, post-doctoral titles and miscellaneous titles in the academic arena. The analysts conduct in-depth research on complex issues and problematic cases and recommend solutions. They are required to monitor the quality of all packets submitted for academic merit advancement or promotion and provide formative feedback to the submitting departments. This position has primary independent responsibility for management of department faculty recruitments, and ancillary support for high-level academic recruitments (Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Center Directors, and Endowed Chairs) This position provides consultation, analysis, review, and instruction of the academic recruitment process, recruitment waivers and Tentative Offer Letters to department personnel. This position serves as the liaison and expert for the campus Partner Opportunity Program in the School of Medicine and provides guidance on all ancillary recruitment policies. Department Overview The Office of Academic Personnel, School of Medicine Dean's Office has overall responsibility for administration of the academic personnel process in the School of Medicine. The School consists of 25 departments and 12 organized research units. The office is comprised of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel, Assistant Dean of Academic Personnel, Manager, and Academic HR Analysts. The workforce of the School consists of approximately 3050 academic appointees including members of the Academic Senate, Academic Federation, Volunteer Clinical Faculty, graduate student titles, post-doctoral titles, and all other SOM academic titles. Academic Personnel oversees the recruitment, advancement, compensation and retention of all academic personnel. Under the direction of the Manager, the staff works collaboratively to provide high-level analytical support to the Associate Vice Chancellor and Assistant Dean, Department Chairs, MSOs, and academic coordinators. They provide training, information, policy interpretation, and development of new policies and procedures. POSITION INFORMATION
