Job Summary
#CA-FT This 100% position is for a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) of the Innovating in Mood and Substance Use Disorders Personalized and Accelerated CNS Therapeutics (IMPACT) Lab and Mood Disorders Research Program directed by Dr. Manpreet Singh at the UC Davis Medical Center.
The CRC will engage with all aspects of research, including study start-up, participant recruitment and retention, conducting study visits, data collection, regulatory compliance, and study close-out.
The IMPACT Lab conducts clinical and translational research related to neurobiological markers of major mood disorders and their treatments in children, adolescents, and young adults. Research involves longitudinal clinical, cognitive, behavioral, EEG and MRI assessments and preclinical and clinical assays aimed to investigate neurodevelopmental mechanisms and risk and resilience factors for lifelong mood disorders. The lab aims to intervene as early as possible in order to prevent the development of disease-related deficits and treatment-related side effects for patients with mood and related disorders.
The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of a portfolio of clinical research studies within the Department of Psychiatry. This position works closely with the principal investigator, sub-investigators, research staff, sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), institutional review boards (IRBs), and study participants to ensure clinical trials are conducted in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), federal and state regulations, and institutional policies.

- Bachelor's degree in related field such as psychology, neuroscience, health Science, nursing, public health or a related discipline; equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience working on sponsored clinical trials and/or Pl-initiated clinical trials.
- Experience recruiting clinical study participants.
- Experience measuring & recording vital signs, and anthropometric measurements.
- Experience processing blood & serum samples and preparing laboratory slides.
- Demonstrated successful performance in a high-intensity, collaborative work environment required.
- Experience with clinical research regulations, GCP, IRB requirements, and informed consent processes.
- Experience coordinating multiple clinical research studies or complex clinical trials (preferably in Psychiatry)
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external research partners.
- Knowledge of ethical principles and federal and state regulations governing the participation of human subjects in biomedical research
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills to effectively supervise, train, and work with other research and administrative support staff.
- Current knowledge of IRB issues and guidelines, elements of informed consent, FDA Codes, and Regulatory Issues.
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with patients and families with serious mood or psychiatric conditions (i.e., recruiting, conducting phone intakes, coordinating and scheduling clinical research appointments).
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively work with physicians and other health care professionals, patients and families, and research and administrative support staff
- Proficiency to effectively use personal computer and software such as Word, Excel, and various industry-oriented Electronic Data Capture programs to collect and organize data (i.e., experience with Microsoft Access, REDCap, and SPSS). Accurate and precise writing, printing, and typing skills.
- Ability to use analytical and problem-solving skills for the identification and resolution of problems in a logical, timely, and resourceful manner while maintaining the integrity of protocols and legalities defined by the University, department, and study policies and procedures
- Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
- Knowledge of clinical trial operations and study coordination
- Skills in participant recruitment, engagement, and retention
- Knowledge and skills in clinical research data management and quality control
