As an Epidemiologist in the Office of Communicable Disease Data, Surveillance, and Outbreak Response, you will be responsible for the analysis, interpretation, and communication of vaccine-preventable disease data. You will compile and analyze data, monitor disease and immunization trends, and produce reports and visualizations to support data-driven strategies that inform public health action. Please note that this is a contract position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027. Work With Us \| Maricopa County, AZ We Require Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related public health field An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis We Also Value Skilled in analysis software such as R or SAS Job Contributions Conduct epidemiologic analyses of vaccine-preventable disease data to monitor disease trends and identify populations or areas of increased risk Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, maps, and other data products to communicate findings and support data-driven public health actions Analyze vaccination coverage and school immunization data to identify trends, disparities, and potential gaps in vaccination Collaborate with epidemiologists, Community Wellness and Health staff, and other internal and external partners to provide accurate and timely epidemiologic information Support cooperative agreement activities, performance measures, and grant deliverables through data analysis, reporting, and evaluation activities Working Conditions Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available as directed in the event of a public health emergency Selection Procedure Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive Maricopa County is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants.
