Position Title: Packaging

Wage: $17.00/hour

Shift: Day, Night

Hours: 5:45am-6:00pm Day, 5:45pm-6:00am Night

QPS Employment Group is hiring a for a Packaging role for a company in Sussex, WI. This is a temporary opportunity on day or night shift.

Packaging Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Perform a variety of fast-paced production and packaging duties across multiple food manufacturing lines, including toaster pastries, granola/cereal extrusion, cereal packaging, tortilla chip packaging, and rework operations in hot production environments

Toaster Pastries - HOT ENVIRONMENT

- Stand in front of a fast-paced assembly line, which moves toaster pastry product from oven, glazing, to final packaging

- Oversee the product as it moves through the line, ensuring it meets production standards as shown in pictures

- Remove the bad pastries from the line by hand that do not fit quality standards and place in a specific bin

- After the pastries are automatically glazed and individually wrapped in foil by the machine, randomly select pastries off the line and visually verify they have the correct date mark

- Place checked product back on the line, so it is able to get manually packaged into boxes for shipment

- Off-load groups of three packages from the line and place into a large shipping box

- Tape the box shut using a tape gun and place on a pallet in a specific design, ensuring the label faces out

Granola/Cereal Extruder - HOT ENVIRONMENT

- Push the totes on a cart to the machine, where the line leader will empty the contents to start production

- Place clean and empty totes at the end of the machine to collect the mixed product as it comes out

- Continuously remove the filled totes and replace with empty totes as the machine is running, placing filled totes in designated areas for further processing; if working on cereal line, will use a pallet jack to move mixed cereal to packaging line

- When product is done running, clean the machine to ready it for the next batch, by sweeping around the area and bringing the proper cleaning supplies to the machine for sanitation workers

Cereal packaging - HOT ENVIRONMENT

- Bring the mixed cereal to the line by pallet jack, so the line leader can dump it into machine to start packaging process

- The machine automatically bags the product, and as it moves down the line, randomly grab filled bags and weigh them to ensure correct weight

- Place product back onto the line, so it can automatically be placed into a cereal box by the machine

- Keep the machine filled with boxes, by removing 50+ boxes at a time and placing them manually into a machine

- Make large boxes by hand by folding the corrugate and taping using a tape gun

- Off-load four cereal boxes at a time and box in the previously created, larger shipping box and pass through an automatic tape machine

- Palletize the box in a specific arrangement and ensure the label is facing out

Reworking - HOT ENVIRONMENT

- If a product has been produced incorrectly in any of the previously mentioned line, it must be visually checked

- Open up boxed product using a box cutter, and remove the product from the boxes

- Check date mark, weigh product, and determine if there are any quality issues

- If there are issues, place into production again to get a new date mark or to be mixed in with heavier/lighter products

Tortilla Chip Packaging

- Prepare cartons, packing product, final quality inspection and palletizing of product; package materials and products manually

- Pack correct quantity of finished goods bags into shipping cartons and seals shipping cartons

- Palletize finished goods onto shipping pallet

- Inspect and make labels and boxes

- Perform inspection of finished goods bag to ensure top, bottom and back seal and legible and correct code date

Packaging Requirements:

- Repetitive and fast-paced work, in very hot or cold warehouse environment depending on department

- Ability to stand for 12 hours in one spot, walk, bend, twist, grip, push and pull, and lift

- Lift products weighing anywhere from 5-30 pounds and push product on carts up to 50 pounds, consistently throughout the day

- Ability to communicate fluently in English

- Count, add, subtract, and perform simple math, such as determining acceptable weight ranges of products

- Use a tape gun and load gun with tape when needed

- Use a box cutters safely

- Facemask required

- Must wear slip resistant steel-toe shoes, ear plugs, hair nets, and frocks

- Grip gloves (provided and must be returned at the end of the work shift)

- Must follow GMP rules at all times
