What to Expect
Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2026) or into Summer 2027 ifavailable. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks,full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site,for most internships. International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your schoolbeforeapplying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. As part of the Thermal Design Team, you will model and drive the design of the thermal systems, including air/coolant systems and refrigerant cycles,thathelpmake Tesla Energy products world class, working with a highly motivated and interdisciplinary team that rethinks how thermal systems should be designed from the ground up. In this role, you will startwith blank page designs and build up to the top-level systemperformance ownership with a first principles design approach.Yourexpertisewill be applied to everythingfrom the high-level system layout and performance scopingto the detailedanalysis of fluid, heat transfer, and thermodynamic fundamentals of heat pump cycle components and broader thermal system components. The role is collaborative and cross-functional,requiringextensive interfacingwithteams including systems engineering,parallel design teams, electrical/firmware engineering,andvalidationtests, to name a few. This rolerequires the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to design thermalsystemsthat are at the core of Tesla's success. Location:Palo Alto, CA What You'll Do
