HDR is seeking a Transmission Section Manager to join our growing Power Delivery group in the Minnesota / Wisconsin Area. In this key leadership position, you will guide our transmission engineering team with a focus on project delivery, team management, and technical excellence. You will manage and mentor a team of engineers and designers, oversee project execution and workload, and serve as a hands-on technical leader ensuring the delivery of high-quality transmission line projects for our clients. In the role of Transmission Section Manager, we'll count on you to:
- Take responsibility for the daily operations of the Transmission section, including staff development, project profitability, team morale, and quality control.
- Function as a Project Manager, taking direct responsibility for production and successful delivery on key transmission projects.
- Take administrative responsibility for section staff and lead and coordinate technical services with other groups.
- Support local marketing efforts, including strategic planning, proposal development, and interviews.
- Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel within the section.
- Work cooperatively with Area and Regional leadership to support local and national marketing and production efforts.
- Implement, monitor, and support company policy and procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the team and our clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering
- PE license
- 10+ years of technical transmission line experience up to 500kV preferred, including at a minimum, conceptual knowledge of routing, environmental permitting, right-of-way acquisition, PLS-CADD modeling, steel and wood structure design, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support
- Distribution line design and/or steel lattice tower modeling and design experience
- Strong track record of growing a Transmission practice and developing client relationships
- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel), P6 or similar
- Some travel may be required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
