Systems Engineer

Location: Southfield, MI (100% Onsite)

Pay: $75.00 - $85.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, with potential overtime

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced automotive systems. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in ISO 26262, SOTIF, systems engineering, and automotive safety compliance. Candidates must have experience working for an OEM or Tier 1 supplier in a functional safety environment.

Education Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.



Experience Requirements



  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Functional Safety, Systems Engineering, or a related automotive engineering role.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with ISO 26262 and functional safety lifecycle activities.
  • Experience performing SOTIF analysis and developing safety-related work products.
  • Background supporting automotive OEM or Tier 1 development programs.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with Medini, APIS IQ, Jama, or similar safety and requirements management tools.
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE, CMMI, Agile development methodologies, and embedded systems.
  • Strong technical leadership, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Experience supporting supplier management and external safety reviews.



Job Duties



  • Lead development of Functional Safety Concepts, HARA, Functional Safety Requirements, and Technical Safety Requirements.
  • Define and review safety architecture for vehicle systems, hardware, and software.
  • Support safety validation, verification activities, and readiness metrics.
  • Develop and maintain functional safety processes, documentation, and compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, validation, and supplier teams to ensure safety requirements are achieved.
  • Drive risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety-focused decision-making throughout product development.
