About the Role

The Job Cost Accountant reports directly to the Manager, MPC Accounting. This position is responsible for the basic job cost accounting and reporting functions for the Teravalis master-planned community located in Buckeye, AZ. The office location is Scottsdale, AZ. This includes but is not limited to: AP & MPC Accounting, administering construction contracts and consulting agreements, preparing ad hoc reporting, and assisting in budget and cash flow projections. The position is responsible for administration and maintenance of JD Edwards job cost applications and working in Coupa, Hubble, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. Additionally, the applicant must have proven ability to effectively communicate directly with Division Controller, Corporate Accounting, external auditors, Senior Management, etc. This position is onsite Monday-Thursday with the ability to work remotely on Fridays.

What You Will Do

  • Process job cost invoices and contractor pay applications within the Coupa payment system, ensuring accurate coding of monthly activity in accordance with the established job commitment.

  • Ensure proper documentation is obtained from contractors for progress and final payments, including unconditional and conditional lien waivers.

  • Log invoices and contract pay applications as they are received within internal tracking tools, including pertinent details such as invoice number, amount, service period, processing status and payment status

  • Maintain internal invoice trackers month over month, ensuring new commitments are added to the report, and the finalized report is published to stakeholders on schedule.

  • Log 20-day preliminary lien notices received, ensuring proper responses and subsequent action are taken.

  • Investigate discrepancies identified between contractor pay applications and internal commitments, ensuring that any corrective action is clearly identified and communicated to the appropriate parties.

  • Administration and maintenance of JD Edwards job cost applications, including releasing retention payments.

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

About You

  • Minimumof3yearsofaccountingor payment application experience required.

  • Project cost accounting experience required.

  • JD Edwards accounting system and/or Coupa spend management platform experience preferred.

  • Sufficient knowledgeof MicrosoftExcel,Word, and relatedproducts.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate directly with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ateamplayerwhocan multi-taskand is self-directed.

  • Stronganalytical and organizational skillswithhighattentiontodetail.

  • Mustbedeadlinefocused,organizedandexhibitproblem-solvingskills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including strong technical writing skills.

  • Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
