Job Description Job Title: Machine Operator Status: Hourly Position Reports to: Production Supervisor Job Summary: The machine operator is responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining high-capacity and/or physically demanding machinery within the production line. This role requires significant physical stamina, strength and mobility to handle large parts and components. This position goes beyond the scope of the Machine Attendant position and is suited for individuals capable of performing intensive physical labor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties & Responsibilities: Must be aware of all quality requirements with product being manufactured and make the supervisors aware of any questionable areas to ensure customer satisfaction. Must alert Supervisors, Technicians and/or Quality for any reject problems. Pack good production in box counts according the shop order instructions and follow the instructions in the Production Quality Work Instruction (PQWI). Record good production, scrap/rejects, reject codes, and hours worked on the Molding Labor Forms. Report to the work station(s) in time to be "ready to work", and to relieve the prior shift staff promptly at shift change. Must leave the press/work area clean and organized at the end of their shift. Must be aware of the standard cycle for each job they are running and run that job on cycle. Properly fill out the box labels and be able to make cartons. Ensure press runs smoothly and perform duties such as grinding parts, adjusting material wand, operate secondary equipment and do basic utility responsibilities as needed. Frequent manual handling of tools, material and/or machine parts. Check grinder(s) bins before grinding and notify material handler before they get full. Follow safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Must be able to work in a loud and hot or cold and dusty environment. Occasional pushing/pulling of heavy carts and/or pallets. Must work all jobs assigned. Will work jobs defined as more physically demanding and at times might need mechanical and/or technical aptitude as well as problem solving skills. Operate and maintain large and/or heavy-duty machinery not assigned to machine attendant. Manually load and/or unload parts or heavy components into machines as required. Monitor equipment for proper functioning and quality and notify supervisor of concerns. Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Must be able to communicate in English. Written and oral Must have graduated from high school or have obtained a G.E.D. Basic math skills are required Must be motivated and be a self-starter Good organization skills Detail-oriented Physical Abilities: Strong stamina that includes bending, lifting, reaching, etc. that may be more demanding than the machine attendant job duties. Able to be on your feet for long periods of time Ability to lift 40+ lbs. 2nd-Shift Pay: $16.00 per hour guaranteed, including the $2.00 shift premium. Employees who meet the weekly perfect-attendance requirements earn an additional $2.50 per regular hour. The perfect-attendance incentive also adds $3.75 per overtime hour. Overtime opportunities may be available based on business needs.
