Job Summary

The Senior Windows Server Engineer will administer, engineer, troubleshoot, and support enterprise Windows infrastructure in a highly available and secure environment. The role has a strong focus on Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Certificate Services/PKI, authentication technologies, and PowerShell automation. The engineer will support complex Tier II/III infrastructure issues, implement security and configuration standards, and collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams on technical solutions. This position requires U.S. Citizenship, eligibility for Public Trust, and onsite work in Washington, DC five days per week.

Job Responsibilities



  • Configure, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory, including domains, Group Policy, service accounts, permissions, and role-based access.
  • Support and maintain DNS, Certificate Authorities, PKI, and enterprise certificate management environments.
  • Manage authentication technologies, including ADFS, SAML, SSO, and Okta.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation, system monitoring, health checks, and operational support.
  • Install, configure, patch, harden, and troubleshoot Windows servers.
  • Implement security controls and configuration standards aligned with STIG, NIST, DISA, and other applicable requirements.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and troubleshoot complex Tier II/III Windows infrastructure issues.
  • Support physical, virtualized, and cloud-based infrastructure environments.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, and system-owner teams on technical designs and infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and manage assigned projects, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Provide occasional on-call support as required.


Job Requirements



  • 8+ years of relevant systems engineering, infrastructure, or Windows administration experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory or Directory Services.
  • 4+ years of experience providing Tier II/III Windows infrastructure support.
  • 3+ years of experience with ADFS, Okta, or similar authentication platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Certificate Authorities/PKI, certificate management, and PowerShell.
  • Experience managing enterprise certificates using Microsoft CA, DigiCert, Entrust, Sectigo, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with security hardening and federal compliance requirements, including STIG, NIST, or DISA standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust prior to starting.
  • Current government Public Trust, particularly DOJ Public Trust, preferred.
  • Experience with Entra ID/Azure AD preferred.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms preferred.
  • Networking experience with TCP/IP, DNS, ICMP, and related infrastructure services preferred.
  • Experience with server patching, backups, and permission management preferred.
  • Security+ or Microsoft certifications preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal government environments preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in Washington, DC five days per week.
  • Ability to work a Monday-Friday schedule of approximately 8:00 AM-4:00 PM ET and participate in on-call support when required.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Additional relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
