The Director of Media and IT provides strategic oversight for the Institute's technical infrastructure and media operations, translating senior leadership's objectives into concrete specifications that are executed by supervised staff. Sets and defines adaptable organizational, financial, and operational structures to ensure that networking, production-computing and immersive visualization facilities remain at the cutting edge. Oversees and manages Media, Events and IT groups, QI auditorium, theater, art gallery, video production studio, visualization systems, collaboration spaces and other technical infrastructure throughout Atkinson Hall, guaranteeing continuous evolution of these resources to support world-class research and education. The Director partners with external partners and campus instructional designers, project managers, and faculty advisers, to direct media teams that plan, produce, and edit professional-level online, hybrid, educational, and documentary videos, as well as other visual media. Manages and has independent oversight of the media services recharge of $550K. Oversee and directs the pre-production planning, multi-camera direction, audio-visual processing, and formatting media for web and other delivery platforms. The Director is the chief technical expert for media services, guiding the integration, setup and troubleshooting of presentation technologies across public venues. Manages media services, IT and educational production services for QI and across campus and external partner venues. This position drives a broad campus-wide impact by delivering essential media and IT services to all Vice Chancellor areas, professional schools, Health Sciences, and Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), as well as affiliated research institutes like Sanford Burnham Prebys, regional hubs like Park & Market, and other external customers. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $100,100 - $187,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $47.94 - $89.80 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
