Position Summary

The Senior Director, Enterprise Brand Strategy leads the development and execution of a unified brand strategy across the organization, supporting its evolution from a hospital-centered identity to an integrated enterprise system. This role oversees brand strategy, content, creative services, design, and multimedia, ensuring consistent brand expression across audiences, entities, and channels. The Senior Director partners across the system to align stakeholders around a common brand platform, strengthen reputation, and bring the enterprise story to life through compelling brand experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Brand Strategy and Stewardship
  • Develop and lead an enterprise brand strategy reflecting the organization's evolution to an integrated health system.
  • Define brand architecture, positioning, messaging, voice, and narrative across key entities, programs, and priorities.
  • Establish brand standards and governance to ensure consistency and strategic alignment.
  • Advise senior leaders on brand implications of strategy, market positioning, partnerships, expansion, and system integration.
Brand Activation, Creative, and Content Leadership
  • Oversee brand expression across communications and marketing assets, including advertising, reports, collateral, presentations, storytelling, and multimedia.
  • Lead content strategy and creative development to ensure messaging is differentiated, audience-centered, and aligned with enterprise priorities.
  • Direct creative and brand services, including design, editorial/content, and multimedia.
  • Identify innovative approaches and technologies that strengthen brand expression, storytelling, consistency, and scale.
Enterprise Alignment and Collaboration
  • Partner across departments, physician organizations, network development, satellite locations, and community hospital partners to align brand strategy with enterprise and market needs.
  • Collaborate with communications, digital marketing, strategy, business development, and operational leaders to integrate brand priorities.
  • Ensure brand strategy is reflected in digital experiences, campaigns, CRM/marketing automation, and audience engagement.
  • Bring a brand perspective to institutional initiatives, growth priorities, and reputation-building opportunities.
Reputation and Market Positioning
  • Lead brand strategy that strengthens enterprise reputation, differentiates the organization, and supports growth priorities.
  • Shape messaging that reinforces leadership in specialized care, research, innovation, education, and system-based care delivery.
  • Elevate awareness, trust, and preference across local, regional, national, and international audiences.
  • Identify priority programs and initiatives for coordinated brand storytelling and positioning.
Team Leadership
  • Lead and develop brand, content, creative, and related teams, fostering excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop staff, build trust, communicate change effectively, and establish clear priorities and expectations.
  • Mobilize teams and partners around a shared enterprise brand vision.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree plus 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years of team management experience.
  • Expertise in enterprise brand strategy, positioning, messaging, content development, copywriting, editing, creative services, and design.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop compelling narratives, solve complex problems, and lead through ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to set priorities, delegate effectively, drive consistent brand execution, and build alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal judgment, influence, and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of how brand strategy supports reputation, system integration, and enterprise transformation.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
