At M. J. Electric, you aren't just applying for job, you are building a career. About this Role - BIM/VDC Lead We are looking for a talented BIM/VDC Lead who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for bridging design intent and field execution - translating engineered drawings, specifications, and 3D coordination models into clear, standardized documentation that installation crews can build from. The Coordination Lead partners with project teams, detailers, and foremen throughout every phase, from design review and clash resolution through mark-up, prefabrication, and field implementation. What You'll Do - Design-to-Field Coordination: Review issued design documents, specifications, and third-party coordination models for constructability and NEC code compliance. Submit RFIs to the Engineer of Record and coordinate resolution with architects, engineers, and field foremen before conflicts reach the jobsite. - Modeling and Clash Resolution: Manage detailed 3D Revit models for BIM coordination, representing the physical and functional aspects of construction projects. Conduct clash detection analyses to identify and resolve conflicts in the design phase, minimizing errors and rework in the field. - Mark-Up Standardization: Develop and maintain standardized Bluebeam Revu mark-up procedures and electrical toolsets so shop drawings and prefabrication packages carry only the information field crews need to build from. - Scheduling and Takeoff Support: Export and manipulate data to support estimating, takeoff, and prefabrication planning. - Training and Support: Train foremen and field teams on BIM/VDC deliverables and mark-up standards, and how to read and apply coordinated drawings on-site. - Technology Evaluation: Stay current on BIM/VDC and takeoff technologies - including automation tools like Dynamo and emerging AI-assisted takeoff platforms - and recommend improvements to department workflows. - Special projects and other duties as assigned What You'll Bring - Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk Revit, and Navisworks. - Strong understanding of electrical construction processes, NEC code requirements, and the project life cycle from design through field installation. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills across design, engineering, and field teams. - Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and QA/QC discipline. - Familiarity with scripting or programming languages for BIM automation- Dynamo a plus. - Advanced Excel skills (formulas, data manipulation) for managing schedule and takeoff data. - Strong working knowledge of electrical construction, with the ability to evaluate a model for constructability and installation sequence. - Associate or bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Aided Drafting, or a related field - or a relevant combination of education and field experience. - 7+ years of progressive experience in BIM/VDC coordination, electrical detailing, or field electrical leadership.
